High Fiber Foods and Weight Loss

Adding some fiber in a diet can really help a person when they are trying to lose weight. The reason why is because it helps things to move quickly and helps out the digestive tract so that the body starts to function the right way. When the body stops to function or might not flow properly it could lead to all kinds of things including weight gain or either heart disease. High fiber foods also help with reducing the risk with heart disease.

A few of the high fiber food items include but not limited to:

- oranges
- figs
- bran flakes
- brown rice
- oat bran muffin
- rye
- barley
- split peas
- sunflower
- lima beans
- almonds
- pecans
- pistachio nuts
- turnip greens
- sweet corn
- carrots
- skin potato
- tomato paste

When a patient is diabetic or might have other health conditions they should talk with their doctor and find out what high fiber food items might be the best for them to take and which ones could benefit them with trying to lose weight. Usually it is good to add at least one of these in daily.
