Stopping Holiday Weight Gain

During the holidays it is very common for patients to actually gain at least 5 or more pounds but sometimes they might gain less. It does not matter if the holiday is big or small a patient can still gain weight during that time if they are not careful with what they eat and overtime five pounds here and there can really add up in time.

When the holiday season comes a patient should always try to balance out the calories each day and just take it one step at a time. Sometimes social events or a party might come up during the holidays and a patient knows that they might be having some extra snacks or junk food they need to make the right kind of adjustments with their body and try to eat either veggies or fruit plus lean protein and fiber before the party.

If you have been invited to a dinner party or you will be having a meal later on during the party try to avoid having snacks or nibbling. Keep yourself busy by talking with the guests. Standing by a table all evening might make you want to eat more but if you only have the meal that they offer then you have possibly prevented gaining some weight
