Weight loss, in the background of medicine, fitness or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, which means loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass. This is namely bones mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can take place unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an actual or perceived overweight or obese state. This is important for many people, because the diet is often one filled with fattening foods and adds body mass from lack of exercise. Dieting has become a billion dollar business in the United States alone, and much of the reason for this is due to the type of American diet eaten. These are diets filled with fast foods and processed foods, which do not have the nutritional value needed by the body and one’s that increase weight quickly. |
