Weight loss with swimming

Swimming is considered as one of the best exercises for weight loss. Swimming is believed to use major muscle groups. It puts vigorous pressure on the body parts. People who are overweight or suffer from some kind of injury are recommended swimming for general wellbeing. But is it really a very good way of losing weight?

In one of the studies there was a comparison made between collegiate distance runners and swimmers. In that it was found that runners could lose fat in a better way as compared to swimmers. Even in American Journal of Sports Medicine it was stated that swimming does not have effect on weight loss. But this is only the half story. When further researches were carried out on this topic it was seen that since swimmers worked out in cold waters, their appetite increased. And as a result of this they ate more as compared to runners and people who were cycling. This was the reason as to why the weight loss in swimmers was not significant in comparison to walkers, runners and cycling experts. And thus, the conclusion is that if diet is combined with any form of exercise it will promote weight loss. All forms of exercises boost weight loss.
